How do I get an appointment at The Center for Health and Wellness?
If you have a non-emergency problem — call our office, 781.891.2222. If we are not open, leave a detailed message and we will call you back usually by 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, and give you the earliest appointment for that day. It is best to call to make an appointment as early in the day as possible so you can get an appointment time that is convenient for you. You will be asked the reason you need to be seen so that you will be given the appropriate amount of time for your visit. We realize that some students may have a personal or private reason for an appointment. If this is the case, just tell the person answering the phone or greeting you that your reason is private or personal.

Is it hard to get an appointment?
No — usually students can get appointments for the same day. We always see emergencies or students with serious symptoms right away--just let the receptionist know when you call or come in.

Who will see me?
We have a registered nurse, nurse practitioners and part-time physicians. You can usually get an appointment the same day with a nurse or nurse practitioner. You can ask for whatever type of provider you wish to see. You also have a choice of male and female providers.

Do I have to bring money, credit card or my insurance card?
Yes, you will need your insurance card for lab tests and prescriptions. Some insurance providers have separate prescription cards. Please have this available in case a practitioner writes a prescription during your visit. You will need a credit card to cover the cost of prescrptions that are written by our practitioners and filled through our pharmacy delivery service. There may also be a charge for certain vaccines.

Can I get prescriptions at The Center for Health and Wellness?
We have a prescription delivery service for prescriptions written in our office. If the prescription is written and faxed to our pharmacy by 2:30pm that day, your prescription will be available in our office after 4:00 p.m. Prescriptions that are not picked up will be disposed of after 1 week. The pharmacy will not credit payment for prescriptions that are not picked up. Prescriptions filled by this service are paid for by your insurance co-pay and credit card. If you have been prescribed medication for an illness, it is important that you do take the medication to avoid complications. Remember to bring a credit or debit card along with your insurnace card to your medical appointment.

What if I need to see a specialist or go to an Urgent Care Center?
Specialist care is available off-campus. Your provider in our office will try to get you the earliest possible appointment with a specialist. You will need to use your own insurance to cover the specialist appointment and you will often need to provide a co-payment. In most cases, you will also need to first call your family doctor or nurse practitioner to obtain a referral to go to see a specialist.

If I have a very private problem, will my parents or professors be told?
NO. No information is shared with anyone, staff, faculty, family or friends without your express written permission. Information about your care will only be given to someone with your specific written approval, except as required by  law and in cases of danger to yourself or others.

What is the cost of the visit?
There is no charge for the medical visit with one of our clinicians. If you have laboratory tests performed, the costs of those tests will be billed to your insuanrce. Insurnace companies often do not cover lab tests at 100%. You are responsible for the charges they bill you. It is important that you bring to your appointment your current health insurance card. For students on the Bentley plan, this can be downloaded online. We also suggest that you call your insurance company prior to your appointment to determine if they require lab specimens to go to a specific laboratory company. The two major companies are Quest and LabCorps. If one is preferred, please make sure you specify this to our staff. If you receive a vaccination in our office, there may be charges you will have to pay up front and you can seek reimbursement from your insurnace company.
