Calendar of Religious Observances

2012-2013 Religious Observances

Many of our religious communities hold regular weekly services in the Sacred Space in the Student Center (Room 335). The schedule for these services is as follows:

WEEKLY RELIGIOUS SERVICES IN THE SACRED SPACE

Wednesday, 12:45 p.m., Sitting meditation
Friday, 1:00 p.m. Muslim Jumma Prayer
Friday, sundown, Shabbat service (4th Friday)
Sunday, 4:00 p.m., Christian worship service
Sunday, 7:00 p.m., Catholic Mass

Please note:

The major religious events listed here are of great importance to observant members of each religion. Faculty members are encouraged to refrain from scheduling major exams or presentations on these dates and to be as flexible as possible with class requirements.  Staff members should try to schedule campus events with these observations in mind.

Jewish observances begin at sundown on the day preceding the dates indicated below.

An Islamic month begins with a confirmed sighting of the crescent moon. Therefore, the calendar dates given for Muslim observances are estimates.
